If you want to do any task on your computer you need a specified app for that particular task. For example, if you going to watch a movie you need a media player to play, and if you need to surf the internet you must have a web browser.
The OS provides the basic app for your regular option. And they install the default app on your computer at the time of OS installation.
Windows only install the basic app at OS installation time. You must install third-party apps on your computer to perform the special operations. For that, you must download third-party software internet.
Google Chrome, Firefox VLC Media Player, MX Player, Photoshops, etc are third-party apps These apps are available on the internet you must download and install them on your computer.
OS sets the default app for every task you performed on your computer. Like if you going to watch a movie on your computer, you must double-click the video file to play the movie. After opening the file the movie will be played on the default app set by the OS.
If you want to change the default app for the video you can change it in the Default App section on Settings.
Here I will show how to change the default app on the machine.
How to change the default app:
Switch on your Windows computer and select the start menu and select the Setting option.
Now the Setting window will open on the left side and select the App menu. Now on the right side, you will see the detail view of the app tab.
On the right side of the screen, you will see the Default apps option present at the second. Here you can change the default for every task.
