How to update the Apple AirPod Firmware

Apple AirPod Firmware

Apple AirPods are known for their seamless integration with Apple devices and high-quality sound. But like any tech, they occasionally receive firmware updates to improve performance and fix bugs. The good news is that updating your AirPods firmware is a hassle-free process.

In this blog post, we'll guide you through the steps of checking for updates and ensuring your AirPods are running the latest software.

How to Check for AirPods Firmware Updates

Apple designed AirPods to update automatically. All you need to do is follow these simple steps:

  • Place your AirPods in the charging case. Make sure the case is closed.
  • Connect the charging case to a power source. A Lightning cable and a power adapter will do the trick.
  • Bring your AirPods near your iPhone or iPad. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
  • Let the magic happen! As long as your AirPods are within Bluetooth range and your device is connected to Wi-Fi, the update will download and install automatically in the background. There's no need to manually initiate the process.

Verifying the Update

Curious to know if your AirPods are rocking the latest firmware? Here's how to check:

For iPhone and iPad:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap on Bluetooth.
  • Find your AirPods in the list and tap the (i) icon next to their name.
  • Scroll down to the "About" section. You'll see the current firmware version listed there.

For Mac:

  • Navigate to System Settings.
  • Click on Bluetooth.
  • Select your AirPods from the list and click the (i) icon next to them.
  • The firmware version will be displayed under the AirPods information.
