How to Share Live Location During Specific Travel Times on Google Maps

Live Tracking

In the age of smartphones, finding our way around unfamiliar places has become a breeze, thanks to apps like Google Maps. And as these apps evolve, new features are added regularly. Today, let's talk about a handy feature: sharing your live location during a trip.

This feature lets you share where you are with selected contacts, but only while you're on the move. Once you reach your destination, the sharing stops automatically, so you don't have to worry about turning it off yourself.

Here's how to share your live location during your travel:

  • Open Google Maps on your mobile device and search for your desired destination.
  • Once you've selected your destination, begin your journey by tapping the "Start" button. This action will display the navigation map on your screen.
  • Star the Travel
    Share the Live Location
  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal additional options related to your travel direction. Among these options, you'll find "Share trip progress." Tap on it to proceed.
  • Next, you'll see a list of contacts with whom you wish to share your live location details. Select the desired contacts, and they will receive real-time updates of your location.
  • Your chosen contacts can track your live location on their Google Maps until you reach your destination. Once you arrive, the live location sharing will automatically end.
