How to Lock Apps on iPhone Using Apple Face ID

Lock Apps on iPhone Using Apple Face ID

Apple has finally introduced a native app lock feature with iOS 18, allowing you to lock individual apps on your iPhone without relying on third-party apps. This new feature ensures enhanced privacy and security, making it easier to protect your sensitive information.

Why Lock Apps on Your iPhone?

In today's world, our smartphones store personal information, confidential documents, photos, videos, and more. Handing over your phone to someone, even briefly, could expose your private data. To address this, Apple now lets you lock individual apps using Face ID, ensuring only you can access them.

Steps to Lock Apps with Apple Face ID

  1. Locate the App to Lock
    • Open your iPhone and find the app you want to lock.
  2. Enable Face ID for the App
    • Long press the app icon until a menu appears.
    • From the menu, select "Require Face ID."
  3. Enable Face ID
    Confirm Face ID
  4. Confirm and Set Up Face ID
    • You will be prompted to confirm enabling Face ID for the app.
    • Tap "Require Face ID for [App Name]" to proceed.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to scan your face and complete the setup.

Once Face ID is enabled, the app will require facial authentication to open, ensuring that no one can access it without your permission.

How to Disable Face ID for an App

If you wish to remove the app lock, follow these steps:

Remove Face ID
  1. Long press the app icon until the menu appears.
  2. Select "Don't Require Face ID."
  3. Confirm to disable Face ID for the app.

Now, the app will no longer require Face ID authentication for access.
